Hi everyone welcome to thelilypadblogs!! Our topic that we are discussing today is theater. Theater is one of those amazing arts that show so much expression and feeling that most people take years to be able to captivate the audience. It takes events and stories and turns them into an amazing performance that a lot of us relate too. Theater and acting make us more confident and able to express our feelings to others. Watching a performance is not just fun it’s also a very open and judge free place where you can be yourself. I started theater and acting when I was about five or six. I was in a bunch of camps and productions at long wharf theater in New Haven. After that I was in the productions of The Nutcracker with New Haven Ballet Company. This was my first big production and I was a a cake decoration from the party scene. Even though there was no script, expressions and making you presence known was very important on a big stage like the Shubart. A few summers ago I started camps with the Broken Umbrella theater group and learned so much about expressions and projection in 7th grade at Hamden Hall I was in the production As You Like It by Shakespeare. Although I didn’t have a major role I worked on costume design which I loved because fashion design really fascinates me. Probably the easiest thing the theater is just to be yourself and have fun with your script or improve. To be yourself however, you need to be confident and project your words and emotions. This aspect of being yourself can be challenging to some but once you master that you are pretty much unstoppable. The most challenging part of theater is memorizing staging and your script all while looking natural and like you belong there. Connecting with the audience and making yourself stand out can also be challenging but all together everything about theater is fun. Thanks for reading!!
