analyze poems

"The Red Wheelbarrow" so much depends upon a red wheel barrow glazed with rain water beside the white chickens - there is no rhyme scheme but the author added pauses in certain places to emphasize certain worlds - they use metaphors and a lot of detail to portray the scene to the reader.  - its a statement but leaves readers wondering why it's so important.  " I, too, sing America." I am the darker brother. They send me to eat in the kitchen When company comes, But I laugh, And eat well, And grow strong. Tomorrow, I’ll be at the table When the company comes. Nobody’ll dare Say to me, “Eat in the kitchen,” Then. Besides, They’ll see how beautiful I am And be ashamed— I, too, am America. - Hughes uses hyperboles but no rhyming -it captures images on segregation and overcoming.

twins

simile- my twin is as dumb as humanly possible metaphor- my twin is like a rock, dense. personification- the flower opened her eyes when my twin walked by bc shes so pretty hyperbole- my twin and I are literally the same people onomatopoeia- my twin killed someone BANG alliteration-  twins terrify teachers assonance-  twins in the bin consonance- the twins took time to terrorize teachers

final essay

I chose the song Supernova for this poem assignment because this song has gotten me through so much. I relate to the emotional part of it. The song talks about being betrayed by someone you thought would be there for you. Sometimes when multiple traumatic events happen to the same person you start to become numb to emotions and feelings. You feel like you’re living outside yourself looking down. You look back at the memories and decisions that you wish you wouldn’t have made. You can feel so disconnected at times and this song really portrays the emotion. Supernova shows that people will betray you when they find something better.  “Don't know what this craze is, oh walking through your mazes, oh oh I've been waking up drenched in sweat. All my dreams full of my regret”. This line of the song really stood out to me because of how confusing life can be. Everything can be fine one minute and completely flip the next. You can’t even function. your mind is moving miles a minute...
final draft reflection 1. how did your final draft turn out? - I think my final (so far) has much more detail then how it started. Its more in-depth and goes more into the emotional side of things. 2. what did you work on? - Being more clear and giving examples to back up my quote. 3. what was difficult? - the most difficult thing to do was make it relatable so people would want to read it. 4. strengths? weaknesses? - strengths- my strengths for this essay were probably my personal experiences. being able to use what I felt and bring my essay to life 5.  More time? - I did have an extension so I'm not sure if I would change anything 6. top points.   Quotes are used as evidence in body paragraphs Quotes are correctly connected to sentences  Quotes are discussed and analyzed in body paragraphs  lose points. structure

project response

Once we really talked about it the performance was definitely easier. Groups that did a lot of movement were more interesting to watch. The groups that had music in there performance did a good job of not letting the music distract from the monologue. I think it was harder for some groups who had a lot of lines, so keeping them short was definitely beneficial.
